AutoPing issue

Postby digitlman » February 19th, 2013, 10:01 am

So, we have a VPN router, and occasionally the circuit goes down, and after a router reboot on our side, all is fine. After the router power cycles, it can take 3-4 mins for the circuit to come up again.

I have the AutoPing to ping the far end of the circuit: 10.243.88.1
I have the frequency set for 10, and fail count 20.
Mode is single, and action is cycle once.
On Monday morning I was alerted by our monitoring software, which pings that same IP, that it was down. I waited 10 mins, then took a look at the iboot's web page - no indication that it saw the error.

I manually cycled the iboot.

I do recall rebooting the iboot after I made the above changes.

Why didn't it work?

What revision of iBoot-G2 do you have?
Is it possible the iBoot could still ping the 10.243.88.1 ?
(but the monitoring software could not?)
Did you refresh the webpage view on the iBoot before manually cycling it?

1.0b.38

I don't know if it could or not...is there was way to ssh or telnet to the device and run a ping from there?

It is possible that the monitoring software was giving a false alarm.

I logged into the webpage view and I think I refreshed it again. After 10 mins, I manually cycled.
